A word of Suggestion

We have been giving infractions to the wrong doers on divxturka but i think that people who are breaking the rules, most of them are doing it without even reading the rules.
I think if we find a wrong post instead of banning them we can bring them on the right track as most of the "Rule Breakers" are not spammers.
We can pm them with a warning and give the new users a note about the rules as many of the ppl are not reading the rules.
But if they are not listening after the warnings too , then as my good friend fotoguy says "Out they go"
My motto is not to get users banned but to put them on the right track.
All of you plz give your suggestions.

    Congratulations Vin_5392.

I agree with you most users, are unware of the rules, and commit mistakes unknowingly. This not because only they are lazy , but because every forum have different procedures and rules. Some uses quote instead of code, some are PHbb based unlike Divxturka etc. Hence user is encountering different environment each time almost. I am sure you will agree , it happens to us also. But In my sincere opinion, Divxturka staff has been Tolerant, patient and more user friendly than other forums

You have started on good note by re-suggesting the above. That is the way it should be actually :)

I strongly urge you to keep the above in mind whenever dealing with Users at Divxturka. However you are young and may possibly run into the following corners of frustration:

    1. Telling or PMing back an User is time consuming:- requires communication, Patience and is a multiple PM process. It is tougher, than Banning at first sight

    2. If The PM is worded in a threatening or ' I will Ban you' manner, the user will retaliate to defend his esteem by returning trivial arguements or even real innovative abuses.

    3. You will find, most of your colleagues do not believe in 'gentle persuasion' and believe you are doing a disservice by not banning at first instance and giving the defaulter another chance.

    4. You may witness multiple actions on reports. Though you have attended the report, and warned/PMed/ Infracted the user, some other from the staff will take his own action when he sees the report at his own. He may Ban the user. This way the user is hit by 'double jeopardy'. He gets an infraction and a Ban the same day!

    What you could Do:

    1. Have a Message Template for saving time on communication:

    Example:

    2. Never engage in trivial arguements or discussion in PM. As a MOD at Divxturka always respond to questions or help calls. Never on any stray remark. You have a real life too, other than spending on online noobs. The user might be frustrated or argumentative. Don't respond. Just know he has got the point. He will 99% be careful thereon.

3 & 4. To avoid any other staff member acing on the same report twice. ALWAYS make your remarks at either the post or ' reasons to edit ' tab. This way the will know you acted upon it. if they do not agree or sometimes argumentative beyond a point, Ask them to put the action as a review at MOD central. I am sure all staff will agree.

Follow this pattern ( for convenience and to get fast better results):

    Warning(PM) > Infraction > Ban for a week /month > Permanent Ban

The above are not sacrosanct. You may side step any above step according to the siuation. Example Phishers need not start with warn, but they MUST be directly Banned. You may even issue infraction instead of warning at first instance for users. However they resent it, and find it discouraging as it records (0/1) at their avatar. More still, warning can be coupled with you reducing Reputation points/or only reduce the reputation point and add the reason. Reputation point sysem was added after much hue-cry, but hardly anyone uses it for the meant purpose.

    Neverthless always have Zero-Tolerance for
    Phishers/Spammer(advertisers)/Padeophilic Material/ XXX Porn.
They MUST be banned at the very instance. There shouldn't ne a second chance in any case.

Humbly i must share, that Being a MOD is not about 'Banning and Moving'. The real skill is knowing the forum and its users . I don't know if you have any prior MOD experience, but with time here, you will be able to differentiate between who needs a Warning, and who directly needs infraction. As fotoguy has aptly said Infraction records the violation at one's profile and let other staff know, whether to engage with the user again or not. However whether to use warning or infraction depends on you and this skill to differentiate will come with time here. Don't worry much about it.

You could ask for Admin's counsel in times of confusion. His is the last word.

Please feel encouraged in what you suggested. Staff communicating with members increases a sense of belonging and forges a 'Home' feeling for the users. The more you communicate, the more users will want to come back and stay. I know some users, who did things wrong initially, but now are assets to the forum. Some users when told, took it in the right spirit, and with dedicated work, and joined Divxturka as Management team. Yes, Communication works most of the time. If incase it doesn’t, ‘Out they go!’ :D

    Goodluck! Welcome aboard and Congratulations

I am only concerened that some "noobs" report bad on users posts if they are pm'd or reminded of rules.
I still feel that communication recovers 70% of damage and rest is "Out they go".

Really gr8 DAWNZ it cleared a lot of questions and i think everyone will be benefitted from it.
    Thanks

The problem is that if you PM the user, other mods will not know that he has been warned. He could get 7 PMs from different mods and still be doing the same thing. By giving an infraction, it goes in his record for all other mods to see. If you check someone's record and he has 4 infractions, you automatically know he is not going to follow the rules.

Can these new topics be seen by mods before posting for any additional input? I will be happy to work with you on this. It is something that NEEDS to be done! Thanks, cosbyyy!

I would like to add about searching for short-named movies by using the IMDb number.

I second fotoguy's point, before posting these rules or topics, please post them here so that we can have a look as well & see if they require any inputs or correction.

i agree ,when i find improper post ie: wrong section live links etc i look to see if he/she is a newbe and then i decide what action to take.i pm in most cases first, but have learned most ignore unless you give an infraction, as fotoguy says its on record for all of us to see.but some long time posters can be the worst some think they can post where ever they want to,to some they dont care about an infraction as long as they can collect points on rapid or whatever there useing.sometimes a temp ban is the only way they will learn,,,

i have also baned a member i just noticed that i warned over and over ,moved i dont know how posts yet still posted wherever he wants to ,give infractions after several pms and then told poster next time he ignored rules i would ban,i banned for ten days after he still posted in wrong sections ,i see now poster has had ban lifted??????? this underminds our authority

heres a pm i sent to a member when i moved his post to bin

moved post ,it was in wrong section its an mkv not a dvd rip, also when codeing links you have to remove url from post link other wise codeing does no good and links are still live ok..no infraction give ,if you need help in posting just ask ok

I think it would help GREATLY if a link to the rules was on the front page and very visible. Right now, people have to search for them - when they're anxious to look around and start downloading.

Even better (in addition to the above), make it mandatory to acknowledge reading the rules when signing up as many forums do. This way, at least they know there ARE rules and they are apparently important to us.
