    Genre: Action Compilation

After getting its start on WiiWare, the popular, rhythm-based Bit.Trip series recently saw its own full retail release in the form of Bit.Trip Complete. This Wii exclusive collects all six Bit.Trip titles -- Beat, Core, Void, Runner, Fate and Flux -- into one package, with plenty of bonus content to sweeten the deal.

But does this compilation justify the $40 price tag? Absolutely. Creative, challenging and terribly addicting, each of these games packs plenty of fun potential. From the pong-like Beat and Flux to the fast-paced platformer Runner to the rhythm shooter Fate -- each Bit.Trip game follows some part of the pixelated Commander Video's journey through life and beyond. Each title provides a different-rhythm based experience (except for Flux, which mimics Beat's gameplay with some added twists), using music cues to lead the player through a trippy, frantic journey of old-school gaming brutality.

As for the additions, a new difficulty mode lets players either ease into Bit.Trip's retro trials with a new easy setting or test their gaming chops with the grueling hard setting. The inclusion of twenty new levels for each of the six games (120 new levels in total) further ups the ante, and should challenge even the most adept gamer. Furthermore, to get past each of these levels players must play them perfectly from beginning to end -- something that will take many tries and a fair amount of cursing/Wii remote throwing to pull off.

On top of all this great new content, Bit.Trip Complete also comes with a free soundtrack containing eighteen tracks from the collection, as well as a host of conceptual artwork and videos for those big Commander Video fans out there. Online leaderboards provide the icing on the cake, and only further intensify each game's addictiveness. And although the price tag looks high at first glance, just remember you'd be paying over $40 to own all of these games on WiiWare anyway (they range from $6 to $8 on the Wii Shop Channel) , making this compilation a good deal even without all of the extras.
On their own, each of these six Bit.Trip titles makes for a creative and enthralling entry in the rhythm game genre. As a compilation, Bit.Trip Complete offers plenty of content. Players can not only play through each of these fantastic titles, but also the 120 new levels that the developers created just for this version. Online leaderboards and an included soundtrack only further round out this great package. If you haven?t played these games yet, wait no longer.
