Description: Johnny Jackson, a sleazy talent agent, ducking and diving in the 1950's Soho of coffee bars, strip clubs and clip joints, discovers teenager Bert Rudge singing in a coffee house. Despite Bert's protestation that he really is only interested in playing bongos, Jackson realises he is on to a winner, renames him Bongo Herbert and seets him on the road to stardom, launching his career on network TV. However, Johnny is both greedy and naive, and having a successful artiste is a new experience for him. He soon finds himself out of his depth, with only his stripper girlfriend Masie King there for support.

Wonderfully dated, and Cliff Richard despite being pretty wet, manages to keep his end up. On the other hand, Laurence Harvey as the dodgy Soho bottom-feeder is a joy from start to finish, as is Sylvia Syms as his long-suffering stripper girlfriend. The script is sharp and funny. What's not to enjoy?
