    Introduction
Africas wild spaces host an incredible array of creatures who engage in a daily ballet of life and death. Among this myriad of species is an elite group of twelve an assembly of mammals, reptiles and arachnids equipped with an arsenal of predator skills. Now, witness their magnificence by journeying into their inner sanctums. From the arid Saharan deserts in the north, to the lush plains of the south, to the expansive Nile River, they creep crawl and live where we live, work, and play. This shows climax comes when it reaches the animal whose size, power and skill surpasses all others. To best understand this animal, we not only examine the magnificent adaptations that have allowed them to survive and thrive, but hear from someone whos met them first handand lived to tell the story. This first-person narrative offers both stunning detail and insight into why this animal is indeed considered one of the deadliest. Theyre beautiful, theyre highly evolved, and theyre dangerousthey are Africas Deadly Dozen. This episode of Deadly Dozen, the National Geographic Channels newest wildlife series, features twelve of the deadliest creatures found in Africa. From the puff adder to the death stalker scorpion to the cape buffalo, their diverse weaponry and tactics are surprising and impressive. Some deliver poison through hollow, hypodermic needle-like fangs. Others use sheer power to seize with deadly teeth. And still others employ their massive bulk in self-defense. Deadly Dozen: Africa starts with a hiss of death, profiling four of Africas most dangerous venomous snakes: the Puff Adder, Cape Cobra, Green Mamba and Black Mamba. Then its off to where the Death Stalker Scorpion and Spotted Hyena rule with efficient fury. From there, massive conflicts arise when the African Rock Python, Cape Buffalo, and Elephant demonstrate how they defend themselves from predatorsboth natural and human. Next, take a trip to the watering hole the back drop to the awesome power of two of Africas biggest aquatic creatures: the Nile Crocodile and Hippopotamus. Finally, the program concludes with a survivors first-hand account of that its like to come face-to-face with perhaps the most feared of Africas dozen: the Lion. Deadly Dozen: Africa is a thrilling walk on natures wild side and an hour of television not to be missed.
